Product Description
The manufacturing process of FRP skylight panels
Fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) skylight panels are widely used in construction due to their durability, light transmission, and weather resistance. The manufacturing process involves several key steps to ensure high performance.
1. Material preparation
The main materials include glass fiber strands, thermosetting resins (usually polyester or epoxy resins), and additives such as UV inhibitors and pigments. Glass fibers provide strength, while resins bond the fibers together and offer weather resistance.
2. Resin mixing
The resin is mixed with catalysts, accelerators, and stabilizers to control the curing time and enhance performance. An anti-UV coating is usually added to prevent yellowing and degradation due to sunlight exposure.
3. Continuous lamination process
This is an automated process where glass fibers and resins are layered between films and then passed through rollers to ensure even distribution before curing.
4. Curing
The laminated composite is placed in an oven to be heated or left at room temperature to harden. Heating accelerates the curing process, resulting in a strong, high-strength panel.
5. Trimming and finishing
After curing, the panels are cut to the required size, the edges are sanded, and additional coatings (such as anti-condensation layers) may be applied. Quality checks ensure uniform thickness and light diffusion effects.
Finished panels are packaged with protective covers during transportation to prevent scratches.
