What types of latex coats are there?

Now that you know what gel coat is, the next question is: Which type should you choose?

info-1-1

By Application Process: Spray-applied gel coat - High efficiency, uniform thickness, ideal for large-scale continuous production. Hand-laid gel coat - Highly flexible, suitable for small batches, complex shapes, and repair work.

An often-overlooked detail: There is a transition layer (commonly referred to as "surface veil + thixotropic resin") between the gel coat and the base resin. If this layer is not properly processed, delamination will occur between the gel coat and the FRP substrate - the panel may look intact on the surface, but it will crack easily under stress.

Therefore, when purchasing gel-coated panels, do not only judge by the surface finish. Always confirm the type of base resin used, and whether proper transition layer treatment is applied between the gel coat and the substrate. This is a key point that many procurement professionals overlook.
